Matching Ties is synonomous for the ties between musicians of different nationalities who share the same musical approach. Based in Munich, Germany, this acoustic music group has entertained audiences throughout Europe and in the USA since 1986. American Paul Stowe and Englishman Trevor Morriss founded the group as a duo (guitar and mandolin), later expanding to a trio and to a quartet. They perform in each of these three line-ups, and Paul performs solo.

The crazy collection of neck ties that they wear on stage is symbolic for the musical and human “ties” that exist between them, coming from various backgrounds yet unified in one sound, one spirit, accentuated by their different nationalities. Over the years they have brought their blend of Irish and British folk, bluegrass, newgrass, country, blues and swing to a wide variety of venues from cabarets, folk clubs, and music pubs to city, cultural, folk, country, and even jazz and blues festivals with an average of 120 concerts per year.
